I'm not sure that 2011 is off to a good start for me...at least not financially.
It all started when I decided to make a car appointment last Tuesday to get my Saturn Ion the winterize package at Certiguard. A few hours after dropping it off they called to tell me that it needed some new parts (a new battery, brake cylinder, plug in for the block heater, air filter, and two tires). I begrudgingly told them to go ahead with everything necessary. Though it was very expensive, I was relieved to finally have my startup issue resolved (my car would randomly decide to start or not start) which they claimed should be fixed by the new battery.
The next day my car started with ease and the engine was blissfully quiet.
I drove out to my dental appointment and was dissapointed to discover that I need to go to a specialist to get bone grafting done before I can get a dental implant put in. This means more time, money, and pain. It's a mild surgical procedure but does include cutting, stitches, and, most commonly, four months of recovery time. Oh well what can you do? I need to get this done, so I contact the specialist and make an appointment.
The next day after my Chiro appointment I go outside and attempt to start my car. Nothing. Bah! I try about 20 more times before I finally grab the service card Certiguard gave me and call to arrange a tow. Of course the moment I'm off the phone it decides to start so I had to call them back and cancel the tow. I brought my car back in to Certiguard the next morning and ask them to look harder. They call me back about an hour later to tell me that my car needs a new ignition. Great. So here I am waiting to pay this off and hoping I'll have enough money to pay rent after all this.
Between all this, the ticket I got for going 65 in what I thought was a 60 zone but was actually a 50 zone on boxing day, and the parking ticket I incurred while parking my loaner car from Certiguard in my regular cars parking space at work, I think I might be in trouble.
Public transit is looking more and more tempting every day.

Oh, that is frustrating. Did you manage to square away the parking ticket situation with work?
